To be completed in multiple phases, Lot 50 Renovation is a massive aesthetic overhaul accompanied with a master suite addition and new deck off the back of the home. The clients moved into this unique, rustic island home, and although it came with it's fair share of quirks, they fell in love with it's charm. The solution is to keep the original floorplan intact, add a master suite and deck, supplement a facelift to it's entire facade, and update the windows, doors, and roofs.

Phase one, the primary addition, is the master suite and deck. The addition can be built directly onto the existing home with very little impact to the original structure. The strategy with the master suite is to build an isolated unit with a connecting bridge on the Northeast corner of the living space. This location gives the couple indirect lighting from the North and morning light from the East. The suite is lifted up off the ground to play off the aesthetics of the thin Douglas Fir trees surrounding the home, and to minimally impact the site. A bridge connects back to the living space with a sliding door for privacy when needed. The Suite focuses it's views at the forest to the North, and removes hallways to create a free flowing layout between the sleeping space, reading nook, walk-in-closet, and master bath. The deck provides raised gardening beds that surround a built in seating area and entertainment deck that stretch out towards the sun, as well as transition points down to the backyard.

Additional phases drastically contemporize the existing building with a stone gabion facade wrap and butterfly roof on the existing towers, an all new cedar facade on the rest of the home and new windows and doors on the rear of the great room.
